GROWING OLD IN THE REGION AND NATION

What does it mean to grow older in the region and nationally? Becoming older regionally means falling birth rates, longer life expectancies, and the constant baby boomer demographic. It demonstrates a trend that affects many parts of society.

As a matter of concern, Pennsylvania is growing older as well, as witnessed by population in the State. More people are entering their 80s, 90s, and beyond, and this seems unlikely to change in the years and decades ahead. In fact, data shows in the Census that by 1934, people 65 and older will include more Americans than children.
