KNOX COUNTY, Tenn — Monday evening, Knox County commissioners passed a resolution to honor political activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in September. Seven commissioners voted in favor of the resolution, while one commissioner abstained, and three others voted no.

The resolution was met with division among some audience members. One woman held up both thumbs down during the vote, and audible boos were also made.

Turning Point University of Tennessee Chapter Vice President Nick Suttle said about the vote.

"Definitely really appreciative for Commissioner Lee and for her initiating it and the rest of the commissioners who support it." It means so much that we have a community that we can rely upon, and so that's also great," added Suttle.
