GRAND FORKS — Grand Forks Central senior Brooklan Bruce finished with more than 200 receiving yards and a touchdown in last Friday's Cushman Classic.

The effort fell just short of a school record for receiving yards in a single game.

But in the postgame awards, Bruce wasn't named Central's offensive player of the game.

That accolade went to sophomore quarterback Brody Leddige.

Bruce still managed to come away with some hardware. He was named the Knights' defensive player of the game, his efforts highlighted by an interception.

"Definitely wasn't expecting it, but I'm grateful to get it," Bruce said after the game. "Brody definitely deserved offensive player of the game, so I'm glad he got that."

Bruce has been essential for Central as a defensive back and a leader this season.
