The Texas Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting to discuss a project to build a second causeway to South Padre Island, according to a news release.

An environmental study is currently underway to explore alternate connections from the Texas mainland, across the Laguna Madre, to South Padre Island, the news release states.

“At the workshop, TxDOT will share information on the project history and environmental studies currently underway, as well as show potential alternative connections from the Texas mainland to South Padre Island,” according to the news release.

The meeting is set for Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the South Padre Island Convention Center, located at 7355 Padre Blvd.
