In response to the “E-bikes are an e-menace” op-ed from Oct. 4, about kids riding e-bikes in a reckless manner, I too have those concerns and see this as an enforcement of current laws not to penalize those who do not abide by those laws.

I own an e-bike and ride it for exercise almost every day. As a senior with arthritis, walking has its limits, but an e-bike, set properly, can give you that exercise.

On my daily rides I find kids with e-bikes and e-scooters riding everywhere. Most are respectful, but some are riding e-bikes with powerful motors and ride in reckless ways.

I blame the parents who do not know the risks to their families when something bad happens and a minor causes injuries and risks lawsuits involving parents.
