Scholars, activists, and policymakers from India and abroad converged at St. Edmund’s College, Shillong, to deliberate on how indigenous knowledge systems can inform sustainable development and climate resilience.
A two-day international seminar on “Indigenous Science Development: Intersecting Traditional Knowledge, Scientific Inquiry, and Socio-Cultural Practices” was held at St. Edmund’s College, Shillong, October 24–25, 2025.
It was jointly organized by the Department of Social Work (UG) and the Department of Environmental Science.
The seminar opened with keynote addresses by renowned social activist Medha Patkar and youth climate champion Ridhima Pandey, who emphasized the importance of community participation, environmental justice, and the revival of traditional ecological wisdom.
