IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Ed Hinkel’s coaching journey started after his playing career at Iowa.
After the 2005 season, the star wide receiver dialed up Regina head coach Marv Cook.
“Coach Cook got hired. I actually saw it on the news,” said Hinkel. “I gave him a call and said ‘hey I’d love to help you.’”
Since then, Hinkel has called plays for one of the best programs in the state.
“Just like in life, I don’t believe that there’s a ton of secrets. I think it’s a ton of hard work and experience,” senior quarterback Kyle Tracy said of his offensive coordinator. “He’s been extremely successful with all different kinds of players. He believes in us and we know that we’d go to battle for him.”
