The Washington Commanders came out with a 28-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8. Looking back, the Commanders’ head coach, Dan Quinn, opened up about their strategy.
As Nicki Jhabvala shared, “Dan Quinn said their plan was to be bold and aggressive, so going for it twice on fourth down was not a reaction to losing K Matt Gay and turning to Matthew Wright hours before kickoff.”
Though the team went 0-for-2 on those fourth-down attempts. The loss also came with disappointing injury issues. However, the coach deftly handled it. He shared that defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw could have returned after his shoulder injury, but he decided to hold him out as a precaution. Although there’s not much information on wide receiver Terry McLaurin (quad) and tackle Laremy Tunsil (hamstring).
