Minnesota quarterback Carson Wentz was placed on injured reserve by the Vikings on Monday with expectations he will miss the remainder of the 2025 season following left shoulder surgery.

When J.J. McCarthy was sidelined by a right ankle sprain after a 1-1 start, Wentz entered and went 2-3 for Minnesota as a replacement starting quarterback.

Multiple reports say Wentz has played through a dislocated shoulder with a torn labrum and fractured socket for the past three weeks and will have season-ending surgery.
