The annual Break the Silence event took place Thursday with participation from numerous area agencies. The event is sponsored by the Caring House to bring awareness and seek an end to domestic violence. A procession of police vehicles, Caring House volunteers and survivors traveled from the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department to the Caring House, where refreshments were served. Survivor Amanda Johnson, left, and advocate Marti Swisher place purple ribbons to represent domestic violence awareness on a sheriff’s department vehicle. (Marguerite Lanthier/Daily News)
