MUMBAI: In an apparent escalation of the simmering tension and differences of opinion among the trustees of the Tata Trusts, three of the senior most trustees—chairman Noel Tata, and two vice-chairmen Venu Srinivasan and Vijay Singh--have reportedly voted against the reappointment of the leader of the rival faction Mehli Mistry, whose term ends today.
According to a source familair with the development, the other two trustees--Darius Khambata and Pramit Jhaveri and -- supported Mistry’s continuation as a trustee of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. But he was ousted as the articles of association of the trusts which were changed last year after Noel took the helm of the trusts demand that any trustee’s reappointment should be unanimous and that any dissent vote will nullify the appointment.
