Cuzin Richard celebrates 50, recalls time The Cars played at Pease

PORTSMOUTH — Cuzin Richard Entertainment Associates' burgundy-painted door with a glass panel at 91 High St. in Portsmouth has been opened and shut countless times since 1976. The man who’s done so more than anyone is undoubtedly Richard Smith , better known as Cuzin Richard .

Smith has always had a passion for music and entertainment , and he has been showing up to work every day for 50 years. He still loves what he does.

As a youngster growing up in Lebanon, he worked at Modern Records, a shop his mother opened due to her love of jazz and classical. He was hooked. He began his networking skills behind the microphone at WUNH radio while he was going to school in the 1970s.

Having just graduated with a degree in business, he asked himself, “What am I going to do? Music is my life.
