Three people were killed, and 10 others injured after a private bus carrying labourers caught fire on Tuesday after coming in contact with an overhead high-tension electric wire on the Jaipur-Delhi highway.

According to police, the bus was transporting about 25 to 30 migrant workers from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh to a brick kiln in Manoharpur, Rajasthan.

Additional Superintendent of Police Tejpal Singh said several passengers managed to escape by jumping out of the bus when the fire broke out.

Initial findings suggest that the blaze started when gas cylinders and other household items loaded on the roof of the bus touched the high-tension electrical line as the vehicle drove along an unpaved road.
