A craft cocktail bar in Midtown Detroit known for its unique pairings with fragrances scents is closing.

Castalia at Sfumato, within an old Victorian home on Second Avenue, announced in a Facebook post Monday morning it would “come to close on New Year’s Eve.”

Castalia, a perfumery by day in the home's lower level with cocktails, mocktails and snacks at night, has had an 8-year run in Midtown. Castalia's cocktails are focused on the harmony of flavor along with the natural fragrances from Sfumato, according to its website.

Castalia and Sfumato were co-founded and owned by Kevin Peterson and Jane Larson, and co-owned by Erica Kassel and Kyle Dupree.
