The Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack convicted Laxmidhar Swain, a retired Junior Clerk from the Jajpur Collectorate, in a bribery case filed by Odisha Vigilance on October 28, 2025.

Swain demanded and accepted a bribe from a complainant in exchange for issuing a registration certificate under the Society Act, 1960. Odisha Vigilance charged him under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

After conducting a thorough investigation and presenting evidence during trial, the court sentenced Swain to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a monetary fine. This conviction reinforces Odisha Vigilance’s commitment to eliminating corruption from public offices.
