Regarding “Micron’s tax deal in Clay would save chipmaker $2 billion in local and NY taxes” (Oct. 23, 2025):

Based on the Post-Standard’s reporting on the proposed PILOT deal and publicly available Micron shareholder reporting, the proposed total property tax payment to Onondaga County, the school district and Town of Clay will be $1.73 million per year versus shareholder dividends paid out of $515 million per year. Of course, we will see property taxes and sales taxes paid into local coffers, as well, from the workers and other business activity attracted to the county or resulting from wages poured into the county. But it seems like Micron itself could afford more than a mere $1.73 million per year payment to county government and schools when its shareholders are gett
