The Mahagathbandhan, Bihar's grand alliance, has launched its election manifesto for the upcoming 2025 assembly elections, titled 'Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran.' This document outlines a series of ambitious promises aimed at addressing key issues in the state, with a strong focus on employment and welfare.

Tejashwi Yadav, the alliance's chief ministerial candidate, emphasized the importance of these commitments, stating, "Not only do we have to form the government in Bihar, we also have to make a new Bihar... The Mahagathbandhan alliance has released the Sankalp Patra for Bihar."

A central promise of the manifesto is the provision of one government job for every family in Bihar. The alliance has pledged to enact a law within 20 days of forming the government to ensure this, with job distribution expected to begin within 20 months. Additionally, all Jeevika (self-help group) women will be made permanent government employees with a monthly salary of Rs 30,000, and all contractual and outsourced workers will be regularized.

The manifesto also includes several welfare measures, such as 200 units of free electricity for every household and gas cylinders priced at Rs 500 for low-income families. It aims to address issues related to faulty smart meters and promises to withdraw all related cases.

For women, the "Mai-Bahin Maan Yojana" will provide Rs 2,500 monthly starting December 1, amounting to Rs 30,000 annually for five years. Other commitments include free health insurance of up to Rs 25 lakh per person, a monthly pension of Rs 1,500 for widows and senior citizens, and Rs 3,000 for persons with disabilities.

The Mahagathbandhan also plans to restore the Old Pension Scheme and establish women's colleges in every sub-division, along with new degree colleges in 136 blocks that currently lack them. It promises to abolish examination fees for competitive tests and provide free travel to exam centres.

Support for farmers and minorities is another focus, with guarantees for minimum support prices (MSP) for all crops and the revival of local markets. The manifesto also pledges to protect the rights of minority communities and to review the prohibition law, ensuring traditional occupations are not affected.

Congress leader Pawan Khera remarked on the significance of the manifesto's release, stating, "The Mahagathbandhan was the first to announce its chief ministerial candidate and to release its manifesto. This shows who is serious about Bihar... We have to get Bihar back on track... Today is a very auspicious day as the state was waiting for this ‘pran’.”

The manifesto concludes with a call for the people of Bihar to join the alliance in building a just and equitable state based on social justice and democratic values.
