NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. — The Salvation Army Thrift Store in North Tonawanda is closing its doors.
According to the Salvation Army, the store's first priority was to raise funds for their rehabilitation programs; however, that became impossible over time due to the property's condition. The agency regularly reviews its stores and only closes when necessary.
"The decision to close the store was not made lightly," says Major Roger Duperree, who oversees The Salvation Army Thrift Stores in the Buffalo area, "but after much review, it seems to be the most responsible choice."
The store worked with the Salvation Army's social services office, which provided clothes, furniture, and other items to families in need. Assistance will still be available through the Salvation Army's service office on
