Police and rescue personnel are searching the Wanapitei River for a man who fell overboard on Monday afternoon. Greater Sudbury Police said officers got a call around 4:25 p.m. about the boater and were immediately dispatched to Highway 537 and Estaire Road. “Information provided was that two individuals were in a small aluminum boat near the rapids when the boat tipped, causing one of the individuals to fall out of the boat,” police said. Greater Sudbury Fire and Paramedic Services arrived. The fire service’s Water Rescue unit entered the water, while paramedics deployed the Argo to drive along the shoreline.
