CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 9-year-old child was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Cudahy Tuesday morning, Oct. 28.
Police say around 8 a.m., the child was walking to JE Jones Elementary School on Swift Avenue when they were struck by the driver at the intersection of Swift and Ramsey avenues.
The driver fled the scene.
The child suffered multiple injuries and was transported to Children's Wisconsin for treatment.
Cudahy police located the suspect and identified them as an 89-year-old Milwaukee woman. She was taken into custody for hit-and-run causing injury.
This investigation is still ongoing. Criminal charges will be referred against the driver to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
