GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, MICH. — Grand Blanc Fire Chief Jamie Jent has been reinstated after being placed on administrative leave two weeks ago, according to Grand Blanc Township Supervisor Scott Bennett.

Bennett told TV5 that Jent was reinstated after a meeting late Monday afternoon.

Sources told TV5 that Jent was placed on administrative leave due to concerns he raised about unsafe staffing levels following the deadly shooting and fire at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township last month.

The Grand Blanc superintendent was expected to discuss Jent’s future with the fire department at Tuesday night’s township board meeting, but that changed after an outpouring of public support for the chief.
