Man taken to hospital following shooting in West Haven

A man was taken to the hospital following a shooting in West Haven on Monday night.

Officers received multiple 911 calls shortly before 10:50 p.m. reporting that a person was shot on Emma Street where officers responded and found a gunshot victim, according to Sgt. Scott Allard of the West Haven Police Department .

The man was given medical attention at the scene by responding officers before crews from the West Haven Fire Department arrived, Allard said. The victim was taken to a hospital where his condition was not immediately clear.

Detectives responded to the scene and took the lead on the investigation.

Allard said the investigation remains active and in its “beginning stages.”
