Sydney: Indian batter Shreyas Iyer, under treatment at a Sydney hospital, is showing signs of steady improvement.

Shreyas had to be hospitalised on Sunday after sustaining a nasty injury while pulling off a spectacular running catch during the third and final ODI against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on October 25. ADVERTISEMENT

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Monday that Shreyas sustained a “blunt injury” to his abdomen, resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding.

His condition stabilised on Monday, and he was shifted out of the ICU.

On Tuesday evening, the BCCI said Shreyas is on the road to recovery.

A repeat scan was conducted, and the reports show significant improvement.
