Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a sharp attack on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and his son Priyank Kharge, accusing both of being “anti-Assam.”
Addressing a press conference, the Chief Minister said, “The Congress President insulted the revered Bhupen Hazarika, and now his son has insulted the youth of Assam. It is clear — both father and son are anti-Assam.”
Dr Sarma was responding to a recent remark by Priyank Kharge, who had questioned the feasibility of setting up a semiconductor project in Assam, reportedly saying that the state’s ecosystem would not support such an initiative. He also disputed government claims that 15,000 youths had received training under the semiconductor mission.
