The holiday season officially arrived at the Grove Tuesday morning.
Mall officials said the 80-year-old, 100-foot-tall Christmas tree now at the outdoor shopping center was specially selected from the Mt. Shasta region of California. A giant crane was required to hoist the tree into place.
The tree will be decorated with more than 15,000 lights and 10,000 ornaments. Following the holidays, the Christmas tree is recycled for mulch and firewood, and 10 new white fir trees are planted in its place in Mt. Shasta, according to mall officials.
Guests will soon be able to celebrate the “most wonderful time of the year” with tree lighting celebrations, photos with Santa, nightly snowfalls, and more at the Grove in the coming weeks.
