MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Madison Fire Department announced Tuesday that crews responded to a fire on UW Madison’s campus for the second time in two weeks.
Officials said firefighters responded around 4:50 a.m. Tuesday morning to Gordon Commons, in the 700 block of West Dayton Street.
When MFD arrived, they found lots of smoke and a dryer on fire on the lower level of the building.
An automatic sprinkler system in the building had stopped the fire from spreading, but there were flames inside the appliance.
Firefighters put out the fire with a water can extinguisher.
The sprinkler save comes just 12 days after a sprinkler system prevented another fire from spreading in the UW Discovery Building.
