Mumbai continued to receive heavy showers on Tuesday amid a yellow alert sounded in the region. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city is likely to experience thunderstorms coupled with lightning and moderate rain until Thursday morning, following which, the intensity of showers is likely to recede.
Data from the weather bureau showed that after receiving 3 mm rain between Monday and Tuesday morning, intermittent spells continued to sweep the city throughout Tuesday. Between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on Tuesday, the Colaba coastal observatory clocked in 11.2 mm. Rain continued late into the evening with the IMD issuing a yellow nowcast warning at 4.30 pm for Mumbai ’s suburban and island city districts as well as Thane and Raigad.
