A preliminary examination for a woman accused of killing a man at a Marathon gas station in Port Huron is set for Nov. 4.

St. Clair County District Court Judge John Monaghan affirmed the hearing date with the attorneys on the case during a probable cause conference Tuesday, Oct. 28.

During a preliminary examination the prosecution presents evidence to establish probable cause to proceed to a jury trial. Unlike a trial, the prosecution does not have to prove the defendant's guilt beyond all reasonable doubt, only that there is enough evidence to warrant bringing the case before a jury.
