Ryan Day started his press conference this week with some truly heartbreaking news. He offered condolences to the families of Nick Mangold and Bob Maggs, two former Buckeyes centers who passed away within days of each other. Day said both players had “major impacts” on the Ohio State program and announced the Buckeyes will hold a moment of silence for them before Saturday’s Penn State game.

Mangold’s death hits hard because it came just 12 days after he publicly appealed for a kidney donor. The 41-year-old passed away Saturday night from complications of kidney disease after undergoing dialysis all summer. The Ohio State community has been absolutely devastated by the loss.
