Three persons – an elderly couple and a young man – were electrocuted on Monday while working at a groundnut farm, police said on Tuesday. Police identified the victims as Ravji Kesha Raula (65), his wife Savita (60) and Budha Dhiru Vadheliya (22).

The Station Officer at the Kalavad Rural Police station said the incident took place at a farm on the outskirts of Dugrani Devaliya village around 3:30 pm on Monday.

The three deceased were, after groundnut harvest, sorting the produce when a metal plate they were in contact with accidentally touched a wire with a live current, the officer said.

An Accidental Death (AD) report filed at the police station said their relatives called the emergency ambulance service and took them to a government hospital in Kalavad, where they were declared dead
