VERMILION, OH — The Vermilion Local School District is asking voters to approve a 30-year $47 million bond levy on the Nov. 4 ballot, a measure officials say is critical to address urgent maintenance needs and modernize aging school facilities.
The district estimates it’s facing $14 million in maintenance needs, from leaking roofs and inefficient heating and cooling systems to outdated science labs and a broken-down elevator.
Vermilion Local School District has not asked voters for an operating levy since 2008. But without the additional funding, regular maintenance problems have compounded, which the district says has made “comprehensive improvements essential.”
