New Delhi, Oct 28: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday confirmed that batter Shreyas Iyer is in a stable condition after sustaining a spleen laceration during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney on October 25. He remains under medical observation.

Iyer suffered the injury while taking a catch to dismiss Alex Carey, after which he was immediately rushed to a Sydney hospital and admitted to the ICU.

“Shreyas Iyer sustained a blunt injury to his abdomen, resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding,” the BCCI said in an official statement.
