Every day, police officers respond to reports of all sorts of events and nonevents, most of which never make the news. Here is a sampling of lesser-known — but no less noteworthy — incidents from police log books (a.k.a. blotters) in our communities.
A COLORFUL MYSTERY
Authorities in the town of East Hartford, Conn., were trying to figure out who was responsible for dyeing the fur of two squirrels last month. On Sept. 8, animal control officers shared photos of the two brightly colored critters — one completely colored blue, the other sporting a pinkish-reddish hue — on social media, and appealed to the public for help in solving the mystery. “We’ve gotten a report about two squirrels that appear to have been painted in the area of Naubuc Ave. and High St.,” the post said . “They app
