POWNAL, Maine — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is seeking help finding the driver of a white sedan who was involved in an apparent hit-and-run crash with a pedestrian Sunday in Pownal that left one person injured.

Emergency officials were called around noon to the scene of the incident on Hallowell Road, also known as Route 9, where a crash involving a pedestrian was reported.

A 36-year-old man from Gray was apparently returning to his vehicle from a walk in the woods when he was struck by a vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.

The man suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Authorities said the driver did make contact with someone at the scene but left the area before law enforcement arrived.
