A project to build a new microforest in Waterloo Region saw 100 native trees and shrubs planted at the Fountain Street Soccer Complex in Cambridge.

The plan, co-ordinated by GrandBridge Energy and Sustainable Waterloo Region, is meant to enhance biodiversity and community green space by enriching the local ecosystem. Twenty-two different species of trees and shrubs were planted.

The project is the fifth microforest funded by GrandBridge Energy. Microforests are small, densely planted areas of native trees and shrubs designed to return the land to its natural state.
