CHELSEA, MI - A Chelsea family has been displaced after a fire Monday morning.
A family in the 6000 block of Lingane Road in Chelsea called fire crews around 11:13 a.m. Oct. 27 after something went wrong with their chimney, said Chief Robert Arbini with the Chelsea Fire Authority.
When crews arrived, smoke and flame were coming from around the chimney area, Arbini said. It is not clear exactly what sparked the fire, although it was related to a fire in the home’s wood-burning stove .
Flames had gone up the chimney’s chase and spread into the roof trusses above the bedroom and the living room, Arbini said.
“They had a little fire going and something occurred,” Arbini said.
