GRAFTON, W.Va. (WV News) — Taylor County Middle School students received a stark warning Friday from local court and law enforcement officials regarding the serious legal consequences of making threats against classmates, teachers, and the school. The message focused on a zero-tolerance policy toward student threats as part of an effort to increase school safety.
The assemblies were held at the request of Principal Tracey Fluharty-Godfrey, who said she has seen a concerning rise in threats among students, leading to disciplinary removals.
“Unfortunately, in this society that we live in today, there’s more and more threats, and we cannot take any of them lightly,” Fluharty-Godfrey said. “We have to protect our students and our staff in our schools.”
