Man guilty in Elgin road rage murder, attempted murder
A 26-year-old man has been found guilty in a jury trial of murdering an Elgin man in a 2020 road rage incident on North State Street in Elgin.
Dru K. Jarvis, of the 1300 block of Cunat Court in Lake in the Hills, was convicted of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and armed violence, according to a Kane County state’s attorney’s office news release.
Prosecutors said Jarvis was a passenger in a southbound car on North State Street on Aug. 22, 2020, when the driver attempted to pull in front of a Mini Cooper. The driver of the Mini Cooper honked his horn, prompting Jarvis to pull out a gun and fire multiple times into the vehicle at the intersection of Kimball Street, the release said.
