SHEFFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Sheffield police are investigating after a shooting threat was reported at Berkshire School on Monday.
The Sheffield Police Department stated in a news release that at approximately 1:29 p.m. on Monday, officers received a report that someone had called Berkshire School and was threatening to shoot up the school. The school was immediately placed into a lockdown following the threat.
Sheffield police were assisted by officers from Great Barrington, Egremont, New Marlborough, and the Massachusetts State Police to perform a full sweep of the school campus, during which time no threats were located.
Based on current evidence, police stated this was likely a "swatting" incident, and that there is no danger to the school or the public. Law enforcement is continuing
