Edmonton police say seven people have been charged in connection with two separate shootings and an arson investigation from earlier this year.
The Edmonton Police Service says the investigation focused on a March 11 shooting in which “multiple rounds were discharged,” and an April 20 arson where “explosive substances were used,” causing significant property damage.
Both of those incidents were targeted and took place in the Queen Alexandra neighbourhood, police say.
Authorities say multiple search warrants were executed throughout Edmonton on June 18. Officers reportedly seized prohibited firearms and explosive devices.
Police believe the gun used on March 11 was smuggled into Canada illegally from California and was used in another unrelated home invasion in Edmonton on March 13.
