HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) - Officials with Wabash Community Unit School District #348 confirm two Wabash County school buildings will soon receive air conditioning units.
Officials say these new air conditioners will be installed in the county's elementary and high schools. According to officials, they hope to have the new units running by Summer 2026.
Dr. Chuck Bleyer, superintendent of Wabash Community Unit School District #348, explains the gyms never had air conditioning in the first place. Dr. Bleyer estimates these new air conditioning units will cost $500,000 each.
According to Dr. Bleyer, the school system will use sales tax revenue, bonds, grants and general funds to pay for the installation and usage of both air conditioning units.
