ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. —
The treasurer for a veteran non-profit organization in Anderson County, South Carolina, is facing charges after detectives say she stole thousands of dollars from the organization.
Katherine Brooke Farmer, 39, is charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent.
Farmer began stealing funds from Vets Helping Vets Anderson in April, the Anderson County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.
Detectives say Farmer used the charity’s funds for retail expenses, medical bills and other personal finances.

Evidence shows Farmer spent $17,340, according to arrest warrants.
Investigators said Farmer started stealing funds beginning in April and continued through October.
Detectives said they interviewed Farmer and she confessed.
