As the government shutdown drags on, a million Massachusetts residents relying on a food assistance program will likely need to find food for their families elsewhere.

Federal funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will run out within days. According to state officials , of those losing benefits, 32% are children, 31% are people with disabilities and 26% are older adults.
