SHEFFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Authorities are investigating after a reported threat at a Berkshire County school.
Sheffield Police said that they received a call to the department’s non-emergency line early Monday afternoon reporting that someone called Berkshire School and threatened to “shoot up the school.”
The school was placed into lockdown and, after a full search of the school campus, investigators did not find any threats. “The evidence so far strongly suggests that this was a ‘swatting’ incident,’” police explained.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, but there appears to be no credible danger to the school or public, based on the preliminary findings.
