KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas Democratic Governor Laura Kelly and two dozen democratic state leaders have sued the United States Government for "illegally suspending" benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) as part of the ongoing government shutdown.

In a news release shared by the New York State Attorney General Letitia James, 26 attorneys general and governors have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) after it was announced that more than 40 million Americans would lose necessary SNAP benefits starting in November.
