WEST DES MOINES, Iowa —
West Des Moines School District is asking voters to approve a $135 million plan to modernize district buildings and fund new facilities, with the election scheduled for Nov. 4.
Most of the money will be used to repair and update every school in the district, while the rest will pay for special projects, including a new activities facility and a new performing arts center. School leaders call the improvements a big investment in the future.
It's been decades since West Des Moines has asked voters to approve such a large building bond for schools, and the plan is expected to affect school children for years to come if approved.
