Strathcona County’s RCMP detachment was closed at about 10:45 p.m. on October 27th due to the introduction of an old military explosive that was brought to the station for disposal by a member of the public.
The detachment and the area around it was locked down until approximately 9:30 the next morning.
The Alberta RCMP reminds anyone who finds explosive and/or detonators to not touch them and to contact their local police immediately, who will move towards the location of the explosive device safely and at no cost to the public.
Citizens are reminded NOT to move or touch explosive devices and to instead provide a picture and/or approximate age to aid in disposal by trained members of bomb squads.
