PITTSBURGH (WKBN) -- Alex Stumpf of MLB.com is reporting that the Pittsburgh Pirates are hiring Bill Murphy as the team's new pitching coach.

The 36-year-old comes to Pittsburgh after spending the last 10 years in the Houston Astros' organization. He served as Houston's assistant pitching coach since 2021.

Murphy replaces Oscar Marin, whose contract was not picked up by the Pirates following the 2025 season.

The Pirates are still in the process of hiring other positions on manager Don Kelly's staff, including third-base coach.
