The Cornwall Typhoons U9 minor girls hockey association has been busy this fall.

The team is participating in a food drive leading up to Halloween called Let’s Scare Hunger, collecting donations for the Agapè Centre throughout the month of October.

“It highlights the importance of giving back, for the girls, especially at such a young age,” said Typhoons U9 coach Lisa Wint. “Because, we do have such a generous community that supports our association. We just thought it would be a good way for us to give back.”

Wint, who also teaches at Avonmore Public School, was inspired by food collection drives in her own community. Wint explained she felt it was important for the hockey team she coaches to support its community as well.
