Perth Glory have sacked coach David Zdrilic after only two rounds of the new A-League season.

Glory chief executive Anthony Radlich informed players on Tuesday night that Zdrilic had been axed, with the club soon after releasing a statement confirming the former Socceroos striker had been “relieved of his duties with immediate effect”.

Appointed by the Glory in June last year, Zdrilic struggled in his first campaign in charge, with Perth finishing with the wooden spoon last season, winning only four of its 26 games.

The Glory’s new campaign started with a 2-2 home draw with Wellington, but Zdrilic’s fate was sealed with a 4-0 weekend loss to champions Melbourne City at AAMI Park.
